Some of life's most interesting and most powerful stories are true. I've concentrated so much of my life devoting my attention to creating fiction, that once in a while when reality smacks me upside the head, it doesn't seem real. Not real at all.
My dad passed away last Saturday morning. He was the best dad I ever had. His passing was somewhat of a surprise to us, though he was getting up there in years. (Don't we all somehow seem to do that without even trying?)
Making arrangements for his final resting place has taken much of my time over the past few days and I don't have much time to write now. I just wanted to say that he will be missed, not only by my family, but the many people who came to know him--including many of my writing friends.
So long, Dad!
I'll see you again someday in that great big publishing house in the sky. (That is, if I don't get rejected.)
For anyone who might be interested, funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 10am in the Lindon 16th Ward LDS chapel located at 610 West 100 South, Lindon, Utah. Family and friends may visit at Olpin Mortuary at 494 S 300 E, Pleasant Grove, Utah, from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, March 6, 2009, or one hour prior at the above LDS church building.

Nice and short and sweet. take care.
I'm so sorry, Darvell.
You have touched my heart in so few words. You know I love and appreciate all you are doing. May the Lord bless you and your dear family in this great time of need.
Your Aunt Hazel
Even in a time of grief you still have that wicked sense of humor. I don't think rejection will be a problem, Darvell.
Just wanted you to know that we would be praying for you and Hazel and hoping for your comfort at this difficult time.
I'm terribly sorry for the loss of your father. My heart and prayers are with you and your family.
Darvell - you look so much like your Dad! And don't worry about the big publisher in the sky. If your Dad has anything to say about it, you won't have any six month waits but instead an instant golden YES! You and your family are in our prayers. Much love from the Ferguson Clan.
Darvell,
I just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. You will be in my prayers. Boy can I empathize with you. I lost both my father-in-law and my father in the same week back in November of 2005. Thank goodness for the gospel and for the comfort we can receive from the Lord in our troubled times. Hang in there!
Randy
He looks like a very sweet man! So sorry! I'm dreading when it happens to me.
Darvell, the picture of your dad, just makes me love him too! I love his smile and how his eyes just seem to right out and invite you in. He looks like a guy you'd be happy to meet. A man who would be a true friend.
I am sorry for your loss. But wow, how awesome that you got to have a dad like that. Lucky, lucky you.
